We feel satisfied with the enthusiastic attendance of 900 researchers and students from 22 countries from Latin America and the globe. Likewise, the generous participation of speakers in conferences and symposia, and poster presenters, allowed to structure a high quality and diverse programme, with the most relevan tareas of genetics represented. The congress landmarks were: 11 conferences, y 232 simposia and 581 posters.

We feel equally satisfied with a fraternal congress represented by the joint effort of the co-organizing societies. The highly massive attendance of SAG, ALAMCTA and ALAG members as well as students, representing the future of our societies and the renovation of genetics, is to be highlighted. We paid a little though significant homage to the members of the Honour Committee for their long-lasting achievements and fruitful role in promoting genetics in Latin America.

We appreciate the contribution of a selected number of sponsors and companies that allowed us to organize a fruitful congress that left us the feeling of having accomplished the task. Finally, we congratulate the new ALAG president, Dr. Juan Carlos Salerno, who will have the responsibility of organizing the 2012 congress in Rosario, Argentina.
